An Itty Bitty Little Lady

This was the tiniest baby I’ve ever photographed…and maybe ever held! She was under 6lbs when she was born and under two weeks when I photographed her. She was such a sweetie! She was so easy to soothe and get back to sleep. So, so precious!

My Nephew

We spent thanksgiving with B’s family, and I was able to take some photos of my sweet nephew! I can’t believe he’s 5. Jaden was two at our wedding, it’s crazy how fast time goes! He’s a happy, handsome boy now. He and Gavin had so much fun playing together. Jaden is a great “big cousin”. I know Gavin is going to follow him around like crazy in no time!

I really love these in black and white too. He is such a sweet kid!

One last post

This will be my last post before Thanksgiving.

I am so excited to post these pictures. I have been pondering and rethinking my approach to newborn photos. I’ve recently had the opportunity to photograph two of my photographer friends Jessica and Kelly. They both had a baby recently (within 10 days of each other). I was able to photograph each of their families (no need to do their babies as they are amazing photographers themselves). Anyway, this is part of what will become a reformed approach to newborn photos which I will talk about whenever I manage to finalize my thoughts on what I’m going to do.

So, for starters, here is Jessica’s new family of 5. She has three beautiful and sweet children. (I took her older kids to the park after Jessica had her baby with another friend, and afterwards, they invited me to their birthday parties. hehe. I love how easily you can become best friends with kids around those ages by doing something with them that they love.) Here are a few…Enjoy!

M&M & M&M

Matt and Megan are good friends of mine. We roamed around downtown for some family photos and fun. And then we got Mary Lou’s Apple Fritters. If you’re local, those are a MUST. I think this was our last warm Saturday for photos, and it was definitely worth it! These little kiddos were photo champs, and super cute.

More downtown fun

We roamed around downtown for this session. I seriously love downtown. I think I find a new place to photograph each time I go there. I love the textures, the old buildings, and the character of downtown. It’s clean, and it’s cozy. There are quite a few cute shops on main street too. Ryan and Audra and their sweet dog (easiest dog I’ve ever photographed) were so fun to photograph! I hope you enjoy the photos.

A Handsome Little Frog

This sweet little boy was so fun to photograph. He was a little champ. He stayed awake long enough to see his precious little eyes and then conked out and let us have some fun.

Daphne

This is a very exciting post for me! A few months ago, my photographer friend Jessica asked if I had ever thought about doing birth photography and if I would be interested in doing photos for her. I thought about it. We talked about it a lot and decided to give it a try. And, I must say, I’m so so glad it all worked out.

It was such a whrilwind day. Jessica has had 2 C-sections and was hoping to do a VBAC. So, labor, delivery, etc. was all pretty unknown. Jessica’s husband called me on a Tuesday morning around 9 telling me they were heading to the hospital and would let me know when I should get there. I scrambled to get everything ready (I may or may not have been reformatting memory cards at every red light I hit on the way to the hospital.). It was so fun and exciting! After I dropped Gavin off at a friend’s house, I sent her a text saying that I was on my way. Dallas replied that she was getting ready to push, but “no rush”. Hah! I thankfully made it just before she started pushing.

I’ve always had mixed feelings about birth photography. I’ve always found the photos to be so beautiful for sure, but birth is such a private and spiritual experience. I didn’t know how it would be being an “outsider” in such a personal moment, but I kept telling myself to “let the artist take over” and all would be well. And, that photo above made everything worth it. The moments after everything had settled down, getting to snuggle her babe, realizing that everything was OK, and that her baby was safe and healthy… It was such a cool experience.

The photo below is also one of my favorites. I think Jessica was in awe at what she had just done. And, I was too! Women are seriously amazing.

The Whicker’s

This is my last fall-leaves post. They really did come and go quickly. Everyone’s facebook status seemed to mention snow today. I refuse to believe it since I didn’t see it myself. I spent my day getting caught up (ahead?) on editing! It’s such a relief. Tomorrow I am going to spend with my sweet baby boy.

This couple was so fun to photograph! They are both working like crazy and going to school (we know how that is around here!), and they definitely deserved a nice break and some fun photos with their “kids”. :)

The cutest little man

Photography is such a rewarding job. I love being able to capture kids in their prime. I just hope that one day when they are old and wrinkly they will look back on these photos and smile. I just hope I do their youth justice. This little man was full of personality, spunk, and sweetness.
